Mapping module fixes and improvements

Errors fixed

  • The layer selected for “snapping to” would change during an editing session. This issue has been resolved and you can now continue snapping to the selected feature while editing until you change features or choose no snapping from the dropdown list.
  • The program sometimes stopped working when splitting a feature with a different coordinate system than the base map layer. Now the system will alert the user to fix the problem.
  • When creating new routes on random sample plots, the final plot was not included in the route. Now it is.
  • The ’Zoom to’ layer function now zooms properly to the total layer expansion.
  • Average processing when rendering has been fixed.
  • When generating plots using a feature boundary the plots could sometimes fall into the wrong feature. That issue has been fixed

New Functions

parts

The user can now create a single feature with non-contiguous parts and internal voids.

settings

Now all of the global settings are together in one dialogue.

The order in which layers are arranged in the map table of contents carries through to the map legend and other areas where the layers are listed, such as the “snap to” drop down list.

The user can now center the map display on a defined point by entering the coordinate pair.

scale-units

You can now set different units for length and area measurements.

GeneratPlots

You now have the option of changing the measurement unit used for plot generation.

Choose-rout-algorithm

Plots can now be selected for inclusion in a routing algorithm using an irregular polygon selection tool.

navigational-routes

You now have two options for creating navigational routes. You can choose either Sequential Navigation, or Shortest Possible Route. The Shortest Possible Route algorithm assumes you want to end close to your beginning and works particularly well for randomly generated plots

The length of a route is previewed when creating a new route.

Routes can now be exported in more file formats including Haglof Plot Files for navigational support on the Digitech Professional Caliper as well as TCNavigator and Solo Waypoint files for use on handheld computers. Plot files, as well as any map features, can also be exported as shapefiles.
